The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) provides a pathway for individuals who have earned a four-year degree or higher from an accredited institution to enter the field of teaching through competency-based alternative certification. The EPI program is a seven course online, collaborative program that can be completed in less than one year.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Students will use a variety of assessments based on K12 standards and apply results of assessments to determine instructional strategies.
- Students will use various instructional strategies to deliver rigorous lessons that meet the needs of all students.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to maintain a positive, organized and safe learning environment that meets the needs of a diverse student population.
Requirements for Program Participation:
- possess a baccalaureate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university
- submit to finger printing for background check
- possess the dispositions suitable for becoming a teacher
- be of good moral character
- be competent and capable of performing the duties, functions, and responsibilities of an educator
- have a valid statement of eligibility for certification from the FLDOE
- receive a passing score on General Knowledge Exam
First Semester: 9 Credit Hours
Second Semester: 9 Credit Hours
Summer Semester: 3 Credit Hours
