MAT 0028 - Elementary Algebra 3 credits Prerequisite(s): MAT 0018 with a C or better, PERT score of 96-112 (tested prior to 10/22/13); 96-113 (tested 10/22/13 and after), or appropriate college entrance test score. Pre/Corequisite(s): SLS 1501 with a grade of C or better. Students who have previously passed SLS 1101 have met this requirement. The purpose of this course is to develop the student’s proficiency in elementary algebra. Study includes operations on real numbers, solving linear equations and inequalities in one variable, operations on polynomials, including factoring, integer exponents, radicals, graphing techniques, and applications. Successful completion of this course will prepare the student for instruction in MAT 1033 , Intermediate Algebra. This course includes a mandatory one hour per week in the Collegewide Learning Lab. Lab fee.
