EMS 1059C - EMS First Responder 3 credits This survey course based on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration curriculum for first responders at scenes of accident and/or illness is designed to prepare the student for emergency care of a victim, providing the skills and knowledge of care prior to the arrival of the Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic. Recognition of symptoms and signs of impending danger to the patient’s life and the accepted treatment modes for the conditions will be taught as well as techniques for extrication (light duty) of the accident victim.
