MGF 1131 - Mathematics in ContextCollege Credits: 3 Requirements Met: AATR, GE, GR General Education Area: Mathematics Prerequisite(s): MAT 1033 or MGF 1100 with a grade of C or better This course is designed to equip students from diverse academic backgrounds with the quantitative and qualitative skills and mathematical knowledge necessary for informed decision-making in personal and professional matters. Students will develop their mathematical ability and enhance their problem-solving skills to solve a variety of practical problems in contextual situations. Emphasis will be given to problem solving techniques through practical application of relevant, everyday life situations in a global society. Students will benefit from applications from the fields of financial mathematics, voting methods, data management and analysis, combinatorics, ratios, and proportions.
