Addendum to the 2025-2026 Catalog

The following items were approved to be added to the 2025-2026 Catalog after official publishing:
- STA 2023 - Prerequisite language updates.
- New prerequisite description: “REA 0017 or ENC 0072C and MAT 1033, or MGF 1106, with a grade of C or better, or score out on appropriate placement test.”
- EDF 1005 - Course description updates.
- New course description: “Designed for the prospective educator, this course provides the opportunity to explore issues of diversity, including an understanding of the influence of exceptionalities, culture, family, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status, and religion, language of origin, ethnicity, and age upon the educational experience. Students will explore personal attitudes toward diversity and exceptionalities. Students will be provided information on the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices, Florida State Standards, and the Professional Educator Competencies. A minimum of 20 hours of field-based experience working with diverse populations of children and youth in schools is required. The field experience should not be via virtual modes of film or Internet.”

- New Course Name: Maximizing Student Potential in the School Context
- New course description: “This course focuses on effective strategies for identifying and meeting the varied learning needs of students in the classroom. Students will examine teaching practices, legal and ethical responsibilities, and assessment methods to ensure all learners are supported in Florida’s state academic standards. This course covers approaches to differentiated instruction, fostering effective learning environments, and utilizing assessment data to guide instructional decisions. Students will also learn how to collaborate with families and communities to support student learning. Through reflective practice, students will develop actionable plans to enhance teaching performance that improves learner outcomes.”
