The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) provides a pathway for individuals who have earned a four-year degree or higher from an accredited institution to enter the field of teaching through competency-based alternative certification. The EPI is a seven course program that can be completed in less than one year.

Requirements for Program Participation:

• possess a baccalaureate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited college or university
• submit to finger printing for background check
• possess the dispositions suitable for becoming a teacher
• be of good moral character
• be competent and capable of performing the duties, functions, and responsibilities of an educator
• have a valid statement of eligibility for certification from the FLDOE
