This certificate program is a limited access program designed to incorporate the theory and applications required to become a state-credentialed Fire Officer. The program provides opportunities to increase an operator’s skills and knowledge, while preparing firefighters for future managerial and leadership roles. This program is beneficial to those seeking career advancement in the field of fire science. Students who complete FGC’s Fire Officer Supervisor certificate program will have completed the coursework necessary for the Certificate of Competency test for Fire Officer I through the Florida State Fire College.

Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Fire Officer Supervisor C.C.C. will be able to: - Explore theories and fundamentals of how and why fires start, spread, and are controlled, as well as fire service nomenclature.
- Comprehend the concepts of building construction components, techniques related to fire and life safety, and the organization of fire departments.
- Understand the history and current status of fire prevention, code enforcement, operation of a fire prevention bureau, identification and correction of fire hazards, fire protection systems, fire investigations, and education.
- Discuss career opportunities, fire loss analysis, management, laws impacting the fire service, tort liability, risk evaluation, control procedures for fire stations, training sites, emergency vehicles, and emergency situations involving fire care.
- Analyze the principles of fire control through the utilization of personnel, equipment, and extinguishing agents.
- Understand methods of instruction, instruction planning, and the requirements to conduct an effective training program for adult learners.

- Have a high school diploma or GED® certificate and submit an application to FGC.
- Students must have successfully completed Fire I and Fire II, and be a certified Firefighter II through the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
