The Commercial Vehicle Driving program prepares students for entry-level employment as a Truck Driver. The program focuses on all safety issues, federal rules and regulations, providing one-on-one driving training instruction (one student per truck). The course is divided into three specific sections: orientation, hands-on training in operating a tractor-trailer, and street driving on specific routes. Upon completion students are eligible to acquire a class “A” Commercial Driver License (CDL) and local or over the road job placement assistance. Entrance Requirements Students must be a high school graduate or possess a GED. In addition, students must pass a DOT (NIDA) 5 Panel Drug Screen, a Florida Department Of Transportation (DOT) Physical exam and a 7-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check (MVR) prior to beginning classes. Students must have no more than six (6) points in violations on his/her driver license in the past three (3) years, have no DUI (Driving Under the Influence) violations within the past seven (7) years. Entrance requirements must be met before students can enroll into the course. Total: 320 clock hours, 10.66 occupational credits
