Associate in Science

(Minimum 64 credit hours)


The Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology-Corrections is designed to provide a solid foundation upon which students prepare for the analysis of social and human problems necessary for functioning within the criminal justice system.

To be officially accepted into this program a student must:

  • have a high school diploma or GED certificate,
  • take a placement exam as prescribed by State Board of Education Rule,
  • complete at least half of the requisite program course work in general education courses and all occupational courses designated as (CO), and
  • interview with the program coordinator before formal admission into the program is approved.

All students are required to construct their class schedules with the assistance of the A.S. advisor, who must approve all course alternatives.

Program Notes:


Students: 

  • may substitute alternatives for general education courses with the consent of their advisors.

The articulated credits can be awarded ONLY after a student has:

  1. graduated from the 552 hour accredited certificate program
  2. passed the state exam*, and
  3. taken a minimum of 12 FGC credit hours toward their A.S. degree in Corrections.

*An alternative FGC exam is available to students who completed the basic corrections prior to the implementation of the state exam requirement.
