The Associate in Science degree in Office Administration prepares students for employment in the traditional and automated office environments. Modern office practices, communications, and technical skills are developed using the most up-to-date information and electronic office equipment. Essential human relations skills are also emphasized in this comprehensive program. To be officially considered for this program, students must: - have a high school diploma or GED certificate,
- take a placement exam as prescribed by State Board of Education Rules, and
- successfully complete any necessary preparatory classes and 16 hours of classes designated as core courses (CO).
All students are required to construct their class schedules with the assistance of an advisor. All core (CO) courses must have a C or better. The following is a suggested sequence of required courses: Fall Semester: 15 Credit Hours
Spring Semester: 15 Credit Hours
Summer Term: 2 Credit Hours
Fall Semester: 16 Credit Hours
Spring Semester: 15 Credit Hours
Office Administration A.S. Total 63 Credit Hours
Program Notes:
Students: - may exempt College Reading, Keyboarding 1 or other courses if sufficient skills are demonstrated or if the program chairperson agrees to a course substitution. A student who exempts one or more classes must take other suitable electives, and
- if deficient in English, reading, or math will be required to enroll in preparatory courses which do not count toward the college degree.
