Prerequisite(s): HSC 0003 This course is the second of two courses needed to complete the Nursing Assistant (Articulated) program. Topics covered in this course include a continuation of topics covered in the health career CORE course and in addition, students will learn how to perform safe, compassionate, and effective basic nursing skills to patients/residents with special focus on the elderly. Students will also learn to practice basic nursing skills within the framework of legal and ethical principles and responsibilities. This course prepares students to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Once certified, graduates can work in acute-care settings, long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, and in community agencies such as home health. Along with didactic, skills/simulation laboratory and clinical experience are components of this course. Lab Fee: 177.51
